same here
dont like j if you're on dial-up you should stay away from huge torrents, if you're on cable/dsl then you just have to be patient like all of us :)

that's why torrents are spectacular
to reach thousands of people with an 800mb DVD(for example) doesn't take any websites bandwidth

Bit Lord, eh? Is it any good? Perhaps a redundant question to ask someone who uses it but honestly though, on a scale of 1 to 100, factoring performance, software compatability, numerous security risks, how would you realistically score it? I tried a program someone suggested, BitTornado, and I had nothing but problems with it. DL'd the previous stable version and tried it again but received the same as before! I do most of my dl'ing from news groups using Newsbin Pro but my interest in Torrents has greatly increased since joining this board. Any info will be greatly appreciated! :headbang:

if you could, be more specific with what errors/problems you had using bittornado

The most prevailant problem that I had was the program would freeze up, hose my whole system and force me to restart. I figured i might have had a bad install so I unistalled and reinstalled it and as far as I could tell, everything was kosher. The first torrent that I tried to download took over 45 minutes, taking this from memory so bear with me, to access other users I guess it was. Anyway, I left it alone and let it run all night like I usually do with dl's with Newsbin. Woke up the next morning to almost nothing in regards to files downloaded. Since I'm newborn baby new to torrents I have absolutely no idea if thats the norm or if I was experiencing a problem. I do know that with P2P, your fastest dl is dependent upon the other users ul speed, so a 5mbps connection will be rendered useless. Personally, since I'm paying for the connection I'd really prefer to utilize as much of it as I can. Is what I experienced isolated to BitTornado or is it a common thing in the Torrents world? :headbang:

definitely isolated
There are a few links to various bittorrent programs in the 'how to download torrents' sticky in the torrents forum

No problem, if you run into any more issues let me know I'd be glad to help you get torrents working

I appreciate the offer. My best friend sugested trying BitPump by AnalogX, not to excited that the version I dl'd is a beta version but decided to try it anyway. He also informed me that if your not sharing files on the network your dl speed will be greatly reduced. Something about a "punishment" of sorts for leechers. I had no clue, makes perfect sense though! Thanks again! :headbang:
